He Wants You to Think About When We Approach Thirty Years Since the Historic First Democratic Election in South Africa
“As we approach thirty years since the historic first democratic election in South Africa, we need to reflect on the journey we’re all on. What has become apparent is that the dream of 94 is now more. The rainbow has faded. We live in a land divided. A land once again split by a minority of people only looking after themselves. We’re once again faced by the kind of division we fought so hard to overcome.
But, no more. It’s time for all of us to make a choice to secure our future. It’s time once again to overcome the evils of the ruling party. It’s time for you to decide. Which South Africa are you? The South Africa stuck in the grip of corrupt politicians and broken, failing infrastructure? Or the South Africa that hopes, the South Africa that believes, the South Africa that hasn’t given up on the dream of a prosperous future.
Are you the South Africa that takes? Or the South Africa that gives, the South Africa that shares, the South Africa that helps.
Are you the South Africa hell bent on destroying the equality we fought for. Or the South Africa that wants to celebrate equality, freedom, and a better life for all.
Are you the South Africa blindly following those with no vision? Or the South Africa looking for a visionary, a visionary wanting to lead South Africa, a visionary wanting a brighter future for all.
Are you the South Africa that wants to kill Mandela’s dream? My name is Lovemore Ndou. And I’m starting a movement. A movement to bring about change in South Africa. A movement that will give hope to all for a better future. It’s time to rebuild South Africa. To Build a Better South Africa. BABSA. This, my friends, will be our rallying cry. The cry that will ring out in the hallways of the ruling elite. The voice of the people. The people have had enough. They want a better South Africa. They were promised it in 94. They’re still waiting for it in 2024. No more. Now is the time.
Terwyl ons 30 jaar na die historiese eerste demokratiese verkiesing in Suid-Afrika nader, moet ons besin oor die reis waarop ons almal is. Wat duidelik geword het, is dat die droom van 94 nou nie meer is nie. Die reënboog het vervaag. Ons woon in ‘n verdeelde land. ‘n Land wat weereens deur ‘n minderheid mense verdeel is wat net na hulself kyk. Ons word weereens gekonfronteer deur die soort verdeeldheid wat ons so hard geveg het om te oorkom.
Maar, nie meer nie. Dit is tyd dat ons almal ‘n keuse maak om ons toekoms te verseker. Dit is weer tyd om die euwels van die regerende party te oorkom. Dit is tyd dat jy besluit. Watter Suid-Afrika is jy? Die Suid-Afrika vasgevang in die greep van korrupte politici en gebroke, mislukkende infrastruktuur? Of die Suid-Afrika wat hoop, die Suid-Afrika wat glo, die Suid-Afrika wat nie die droom van ‘n voorspoedige toekoms opgegee het nie. Is jy die Suid-Afrika wat vat?
Of die Suid-Afrika wat gee, die Suid-Afrika wat deel, die Suid-Afrika wat help.
Is jy die Suid-Afrika- wat so daarop ingestel is om die gelykheid waarvoor ons geveg het, te vernietig. Of die Suid-Afrika wat gelykheid, vryheid en ‘n beter lewe vir almal wil vier. Volg jy die Suid-Afrika blindelings diegene met geen visie nie?
Of die Suid-Afrika wat op soek is na ‘n visioenêr, ‘n visioenêr wat Suid-Afrika wil lei, ‘n visioenêr wat ‘n beter toekoms vir almal wil hê.
Is jy die Suid-Afrika wat Mandela se droom wil doodmaak? Of die Suid-Afrika wat sy droom lewend wil hou, om die droom te eer waarvoor hy sy lewe opgeoffer het, die droom waarin die res van die wêreld geglo het. Moenie die Suid-Afrika wees wat ons terughou nie. Wees die Suid-Afrika wat ‘n beter lewe vir almal wil hê. Kies van watter Suid-Afrika jy deel wil wees. As jy nog hoop het en ‘n beter Suid-Afrika wil bou, kom saam met ons.
Kom ons wys vir die ander Suid-Afrikaaners dat hulle verkeerd is. Dat wat hulle doen is om ons land dood te maak en die lewe vir ons almal ondraaglik te maak. Kom ons laat hulle besef dat die Suid-Afrika wat hulle bou ons keer om die Suid-Afrika te word wat ons wil wees.
